League representatives will be at Fowler Park (in front of Walnut Cove Library) and at London Gym (during basketball games) to help fill out forms and take forms for Spring 2010 season.
New and seasoned players are encouraged to register for the next exciting soccer season!

Registration forms also available online and can be mailed to address located on form. Forms must be received no later than ??? to avoid a late fee. Forms received ??? will incurr a $25 late fee.
No forms accepted after ???th.

Walnut Cove Parade Float - December 12th

Coaches,
Just a reminder: Please contact all of your players' parents and invite the kids to ride on the SSYSA float at the parade this Saturday. Parents (and coaches) are also invited to walk along. Participants need to be at Southeastern Middle School at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. We will also have a booth set up in front of Dunlap's store downtown. We will be selling doughnuts and coffee and registering players for the spring season. If anyone has any questions they are welcome to call Jason at 480-1657.

On Monday December 14 th at 6:00 there will be a board meeting for SSYSA at the Walnut Cove Library.

This is the time of year that we welcome parents and coaches to join our Board of Directors. The board is responsible for ensuring the league continues to grow and operate. The activities would not be possible without the board and support from parents like YOU!

The meeting on the 14th will be to induct new board members for 2010 soccer seasons. After board members ARE in place we will request and vote in the Executive Council. This includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Only board members are allowed to vote ON the officers BUT parents are welcome and encouraged to attend any and all board meetings. Dates and times are found on our website - www.ssysa.com .

Please join us and help make 2010 as much as a success as 2009!

Wow - the season has come to an end - ALREADY!
We will have our award's day ceremony Sunday November 1st. It will be 3:00 at the fields.

Afterwards we will have an adult game! All are welcome!!! Please reach out to your parents if you've not done so already.

1st weekend of games went well!
Hope everyone had a blast!

SSYSA is glad to announce inter-league play with King!
Our U8, U10, and U13 teams will now be playing each other as well as against Northern Triad Soccer Club teams (King). We will be hosting home games at Brook Cove Fields and traveling to King to play at the King Soccer Complex located at Recreation Acres.

Please be patient as we work out scheduling/parking. We can continue to park across the road but be careful to watch for traffic when crossing the road.

You will notice we have placed field signs up for game days. This is to help direct everyone to the correct field.

Please inform those in the concession stand if you notice the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Please help us out by keeping them as clean as you can.

Did you know... that our concession stand money was used to pay the referees? This year we have many more refs so show your support and stop by for a drink and snack. We have several new items to try out too! Let us know what you like. Also, we can always use support in the concession stand. Parents and board members are behind the counter and we would love to be able to sneak out and watch our children play as well!

This is a very exciting time for the SSYSA!!!

Coaches Clinic Coming Soon!
SSYSA will be hosting a Coaches Clinic on Sunday July 12th at the fields 6:00 - 8:00pm. The clinic will be facilitated by the British Soccer Camp counselors. This will be a wonderful opportunity to freshen up the ol' soccer skills and hopefully learn some new tips and tricks

Challenger British Soccer Camp

SSYSA is proud to announce a strategic training partnership with Challenger Sports. Challenger is the leader in youth soccer coaching in both the USA and Canada, and their partnership with MSA reflects our commitment to focusing on the development of its players. Challenger Sports - British Soccer Camps has become the most popular soccer camp in North America. The company has done this by providing a unique soccer experience that combines high quality instruction, games and competitive play along with engaging camp activities that share the passion, tradition and culture of the country that invented the sport! SSYSA players will get their first chance to meet the Challenger coaches at this summer’s camp starting the week of July 13 ^th. The camp will run Monday – Friday and there will be different sessions throughout the day for players between the ages of 3-16yrs.

SSYSA strongly suggests player participation in the British Soccer Camp for our players. In addition, players will receive a whole assortment of soccer goodies such as a soccer jersey, soccer ball and camp T-shirt that you’ll see when you click on the links for the camp.

We look forward to seeing each of you out on the fields this summer as well as in the Fall during the next season’s play. This step that SSYSA has taken is part of a larger push to advance our program and our players, and we urge you to keep involved and continue supporting your young player’s love for the passion for the game.

SSYSA Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony will be 4:00 pm Sunday May 3rd at Brook Cove Fields.

The league will be providing hot dogs and we ask that the following age groups provide items listed:

U6 - COLD drinks - canned or bottled drinks. No 2-Liters Please
U8- Sides (baked beans, potato salad, mac & cheese etc.) No Chips please
U10 - Desserts
U13Boys - Chips
U14Girls - Condiments (ketchup, mustard, onions, chili, slaw, etc.)
U19Boys - COLD drinks - canned or bottled drinks. No 2-Liters Please

There will be a penalty kick contest also. After the ceremony there will be an adult game. Bring a white t-shirt and colored shirt if you want to play (It is FREE).

To all Coaches:
Practices seem to be going well. The field has been busy with activity!

There was a blue bag with several pennies for use of the league that is no longer in the storage room. Please let Lisa know if you have the bag. Other coaches need them to practice as well.

Our registrar is registering all players. We may have to contact you if we do not have birth certificates for all new players.

Uniforms were ordered(only for new teams/players). If you have not recieved yours, please contact your coach.

For new coaches (and assistant coaches) if we have not received a copy of your drivers license please make a copy and bring to practice ASAP. Let Lisa know and she can meet you at the field to pick it up. Also make sure you have filled out the Risk Management info on the NCYSA site. There is a link on our web page .

SSYSA will have a float in the parade. Please come help! .......
Southeastern Middle School at 11 am Saturday .....to help work on decorations for the float, the
parade starts at 2 pm if you want to work.

All players are encouraged to participate. Preference for riding the float will go U6 first, then U8 and then older kids as they'll fit. Kids can wear their jerseys or they can wear holiday stuff too. We need adults to walk along too. If you are interested, please be at Southeastern Middle School parking lot by 1 pm on Saturday, the float will return there so this is a good place to pick up the kids too.

The SSYSA booth will be located in front of the old Western Auto store and will be open by 9 am.

Play PALS - Spring '08
SSYSA is holding special soccer sessions for 3 and 4 year olds, to introduce them to the world of soccer. We will play fun games and scrimmage to promote basic soccer concepts and sportsmanship skills. All sessions will be held at the Brook Cove Complex at 12:30 - March 8- April 5. Do you want to have fun? Do you want to get in shape? Do you want to show your kid just how great a soccer player you are? Well then, you need to sign up for SSYSA’s adult team. The cost is $5. The minimum age is 18 years. Practices will be held weekly at the Brook Cove fields.“THE MATCH” will be held on the evening of
October 28th.

Any interested party is invited to an informational meeting at the Brook Cove fields at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 21. Registration will not be taken after the date of Friday, September 21 (you may bring your form and $5 to the meeting).
