Coach Sean Vaughan
Director of Classic

Coach Sean boasts an impressive coaching tenure spanning over 12 years, during which he has guided boys and girls of diverse skill levels and age groups. Holding a US Soccer D License, he has served as the head coach for both girls and boys teams, achieving notable successes such as leading teams to promotion and securing multiple tournament championships.

Beyond coaching, Coach Sean plays a pivotal role as the Director of Classic Soccer, where he oversees the comprehensive development and progress of the program. In this capacity, he effectively manages and coordinates activities for both girls and boys teams, ensuring a holistic and enriching experience for all participants. His extensive coaching experience and unwavering commitment to player development have been instrumental in guiding teams to promotion and tournament victories.

Coach Travis Kelley
Director of Coaching - SSYSA Classic

Travis Kelley has been a soccer coach for more than 17 years, coaching 65 teams at the recreation, middle school, high school, indoor, and club levels (Classic and Premier) in North Carolina and Virginia.  He is US Soccer certified, and recently coached the SSYSA ‘04 Girl’s Classic team, finishing 39th in the state and 109thin the nation.  Prior to that, Travis coached in southern Virginia where his team won the Skyline Regular Season by going undefeated with one of the youngest rosters in the league. 


Coach Hayden Kelley

Hayden Kelley has played soccer since she was 3 years old – recreation, middle school, high school, indoor, and club (Classic and Premier level).  She is currently on the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Club Soccer Team and finished 2^nd in the 2021 National Tournament after going undefeated in the regular season and Regional Tournament.  Hayden has been an assistant coach for 5 years at the middle school, high school, and club level, helping develop SSYSA Classic players in their inaugural season. Most recently, Coach Hayden was an assistant coach for the SSYSA ’04 Girl’s Classic team in their inaugural season.


Coach Summer Dunlap

Summer Dunlap has played soccer since she was 9 years old – recreation, middle school, high school, indoor, and club (Classic and Premier level).  In May 2022, Summer will graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science, and two minors in Neuroscience and Coaching Education.  She has been accepted into Campbell University’s Master of Physician Assistant Practice and Master of Science in Clinical Research dual degree program.  Summer has been an assistant coach for the past 4 years for indoor and club teams.  Most recently, Coach Summer was an assistant coach for the SSYSA ’04 Girl’s Classic team in their inaugural season.

Coach Justin Powell

Justin has been coaching soccer since 2010 for age levels from U5 to U18. He has coached at the recreational and classic division levels. He holds a NCYSA Class D coaching license and is pursuing higher level licenses. Previously, Justin coached at SPR (Stokesdale Parks and Rec) where he led numerous recreational level teams to classic division level tournaments with great success. He is a multi-sport coach with experience coaching basketball from U10 to the high school level. Justin prides his coaching in being a player’s coach, listening, and understanding what makes them the best they can be.


Coach Joe Lampert

Coach Joe has been coaching for over 8 years at various levels.  He has played soccer for many years, including a collegiate career at UNC Charlotte.  While at UNC Charlotte, Joe was named to the Conference All-Freshman team, led the 49ers to Conference USA Tournament title game, and earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Conference team, and was drafted by the Colorado Rapids to play professional soccer.


Coach Mike Myers

Mike Myers coaches the newly formed U11 SSYSA Thunder Girls Classic team. Over a 5-year period, Mike has coached over a dozen teams in NC and VA ranging from U8– High School, at the recreation, indoor, and challenge levels. Within the past two years Mike has led teams to three undefeated regular seasons and reached four tournament finals, bringing home two championships. Mike began playing soccer at age 5 and has been active in the sport for over 4 decades.

Coach Sarah East

Coach Sarah East assists in coaching the newly formed U11 SSYSA Thunder Girls Classic team.  Coach Sarah began playing soccer at the early age of 5 and has played at different levels ranging from challenge, classic, high school and college. Sarah received a athletic scholarship to Belmont Abbey College where she played for 3 years (last year ending with an injury) and graduated in 2004. Over the last three years, Sarah has been an Assistant Coach for a talented girls team that has led to three undefeated regular seasons, appearing in four tournament finals and bringing home two championships.
